We forestification Planning to create Amazon'e branded forests around the world
The Amazon is a vast region that spans eight rapidly developing countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana, an overseas territory of France.
The landscape contains:
1.4 billion acres of dense forests, half of the planet's remaining tropical forests
The 3,977-mile-long Amazon River, the second-longest river on Earth after the Nile
2.6 million square miles in the Amazon basin, about 40% of South America
There is a clear link between the health of the Amazon and the health of the planet. The rain forests, which contain 90-140 billion tons of carbon, help stabilize the local and global climate. Deforestation releases significant amounts of this carbon, which could have catastrophic consequences around the world.
Amazon is one of Earth's last refuges for jaguars, harpy eagles, and pink river dolphins, and home to thousands of birds and butterflies. Tree-dwelling species include southern two-toed sloths, pygmy marmosets, saddleback and emperor tamarins, and Goeldi's monkeys.
The diversity of the region is staggering:
40,000 plant species
2,400 freshwater fish species
More than 370 types of reptiles
To protect these species, WWF works with local communities, partner nongovernmental organizations, corporations, and governments to ensure that deforestation and degradation of rivers are alleviated.
More than 30 million people, including 350 Indigenous and ethnic groups, live in the Amazon and depend on nature for agriculture, clothing, and traditional medicines. Most live in large urban centers, but all residents rely on the Amazon’s natural bounty for food, shelter, and livelihoods.
At Forestification, we believe we can fight this consequential threat and build a safer, healthier, and more resilient future for people and nature. We must rethink the way we produce and consume energy, food, and water; protect the world’s forests, and help people prepare for a changing world.
Achieving this future will require action by everyone, and we are already well on our way. People are using their collective voices to demand change. Businesses are making investments in clean energy, already creating local jobs and stronger economies. Communities are redesigning their roads, buildings, airports, and railroads to make them climate-resilient.
Created by Nature Lovers, the Forestification was created with a simple mission: bring people together to restore and enhance our Forests and environment. Spend A little, Plant a tree or Plant Trees, and Create our own Forest.
The Forestification is the leading company inspiring personal and meaningful connections to our Forests, Mainly the Western Ghats in India, Olive forests in Greece, Forests in Srilanka, Pine forests in Nainital.
